Whistling Up the Wind

Perceived as delinquents for being the only ones not in school, two farm boys, Isagani and Tomas, attempt to fit in with their friends by rambling about how witches can call the wind and control the weather by whistling. As they get ridiculed and embarrassed, the two catch sight of an elderly farmer, Nong Anil, mysteriously whistling an odd melody as a gust of powerful winds passes. Convinced that there is, in fact, a witch amongst them, the boys accidentally start a rumor mill. But as misfortunes hit the farmland, the villagers quickly blame the old man and praise the boys for exposing the "witch." Delighted to finally feel like a part of the community, Isagani and Tomas soon confront the consequences of their actions, leaving them to question the price they paid for belonging.
