Cornish wine estate heir Jonathan Benson, a playboy only interested in car races despite his economics degree, isn't amused when his aunt, Lady Kate Benson, offers Hannah Powell the opportunity to market their wine, but the deal includes 'collaborating with', i.e. apprenticing, him as manager. In the process, they become lovers. However each has a compromising secret: his gambling debts-induced deal with would be-buyer Nick Stevens and her unsuspecting, sickly daughter, raised by a local relative when she left to learn wine-making in France.
