ERROL SPENCE JR will defend his unified welterweight titles against ex-champion Danny Garcia. And he does so in his first fight since avoiding death in a life-threatening car crash in October 2019. The Texan has proved to be the most dominant force in the welterweight division since he beat Kell Brook into submission in 2017. That night he won the IBF belt and defended it three times before unifying it with the WBC title last year. To do so, Spence outpointed Shawn Porter in a Fight of The Year contender, to secure the biggest win of his 26-fight career. But a month later, the 30-year-old was lucky to somehow come out unscathed after shocking footage revealed the unbeaten boxer flipping his Ferrari. Spence admitted he is now enjoying a second chance in life and vowed to focus only on boxing after being hit with a (DWI) Driving While Intoxicated. The southpaw is one of the best body punchers, a tactic that helps slow down his opponents. And with 21 knockouts he is a proven puncher, with his heavy-hands breaking down fighters. He is a pressure fighter, with educated footwork to close down his man, but can also mix it up on the inside just as well. Two-weight champ Garcia threatens to be the forgotten man of the 147lb division. He reigned as unified king at light-welterweight, beating the likes of Khan, Erik Morales, Zab Judah, and Lucas Matthysse. The Philadelphia star then moved up to welterweight and within two years won the WBC strap by beating Robert Guerrero. But in 2017 he suffered defeat for the first time, losing to Keith Thurman by split-decision. And when he attempted to reclaim the title against Porter, again he lost out on the cards. The 32-year-old has won twice since but finds himself on the brink of irrelevancy if he cannot dethrone Spence. At the moment, Garcia is still one of the big stars in the division, gifted with a magnificent left hook. His right hand is also a damaging shot, which has helped him to 21 KOs in his 36 wins.
